Sarah WitkowskiMost tennis players start playing when they are about 7 or 8. I began playing tennis when I was 11 and a half. Before tennis I had played soccer for 6 years and loved it! I just wanted to try something new and different. I was first exposed to tennis when I was a ball kid for the Peach State in Peachtree City, GA where I live. I remember I came away from the tournament wondering what in the world Babolat was? Little to say I have come a good way since then.

My name is Sarah Witkowski, and like I said I currently live in Peachtree City, GA. I frequently commute up to Cary to train with my Coach Sean Ferreira. Age : 17 (Rank G18s)
State : GA
State Rank : 50
Sect'l Rank : 37
Nat'l Rank: 348
This is only available by the fact that my Dad works for Delta. I am normally living in Cary about 3 days a week. Living and training in Cary has done wonders for my game. The people are fantastic and it feels like a second family to me. One of the coolest things that tennis has exposed me to is the incredible people in and around the game, for example ALL the pros at the tennis park are tremendous! The kids that train out of there are awesome as well. It is a great place to grow and see your game explode. In many sports injuries are quite frequent. This does not escape tennis. I have overcome 2 serious injuries. In 2006 I tore a ligament and cartilage in my left wrist. I underwent surgery on it in May and consequently was out the entire summer. Although I was back playing in August, I was not pain free until November. My second injury came last year. An intense increase in my training regimen resulted in my hip and back going out on me. At the time my body was not quite strong enough to handle it. I suffered from terrible pain constantly and was forced to hang the rackets up for the entire summer once again. My physical therapy is still going on for it and I will have to continue it through out the rest of my life, in order to remain pain free. Needless to say, ANYONE can fully recover from injuries even more than one. You have to stay focused and not let it get the best of you.

My future plans for tennis are to play on a Division 1 college team and I am currenly in the recruiting process. It is a crazy, stressful adventure, but I know that the end result will be completely worth it. It has always been my goal to play college tennis. Well I hope you guys enjoyed getting to know a little bit about me!
